In commemorating this year's environment day, the Government of East Kalimantan carries the theme, reduce plastic waste pollution for a greener earth. This is a symbol to educate the community and surrounding companies to be aware of a healthy environment.
One way to appreciate it is by conferring a proper award, Kalpataru, or Adiwiyata. This is done in order to increase the company's role in managing the environment by complying with all established environmental regulations.
According to the Head of the East Kalimantan Environmental Service, companies must make efficient use of natural resources, water, energy and conserve biodiversity, as well as carry out community development activities.
"This is a form of our appreciation to corporate entities that have succeeded in making efficiency with natural resources and also preserving the environment. The hope is that every year companies that empower environmental protection can continue to increase," said Rafiddin Rizal.
One of the companies that received a gold award in the proper assessment of environmental management is PT Kaltim Methanol Industry. This is because KMI meets the assessment criteria.
"We feel grateful for the award we have received, and this certainly shows that we are committed to preserving the environment both in company operations and in the work environment," said Listyawan Adi Pratisto as Production Director of PT. KMI.
In his speech, Isran Noor as the Governor of East Kalimantan, appealed to the recipients of the award to have a prosperous impact on the business environment in East Kalimantan.
