PT Kaltim Methanol Industri (PT.KMI) Bontang again held a teacher empowerment program entitled Batch III Teacher Competency Training. Series of training activities held at the Ball room of the Hotel Equator Bontang, East Kalimantan. This Thursday (15/8/2019) was attended by 46 teacher participants from Bontang City.
The teachers who attended were participants who took part in Batch II some time ago with a literacy theme that was not much different from the current theme which raised the issue of writing training. Present at the opening of the training, the leadership of PT KMI and their staff, including the General Affairs Director (Ir. Agus Priyatno), the Secretary of the Bontang Education Office (Dwi Indriani), the Head of Manpower Development (Eka Dedi), the principal of the training school and resource person YB Margantoro from Jogjakarta.
In his remarks the General Affairs Director, Ir. Agus Priyatno explained his commitment with the methanol producer to continue to contribute to advancing education in the country. "We are committed to contributing to advancing education in this country," he said.
As the son of a teacher, Agus Priyatno knows very well the conditions of teachers and education. He said that teachers as a profession of merit need to be continuously appreciated and their quality capacity increased. "Thus, through this activity, we think it is necessary to conduct writing training for teachers. What if we could talk, it could also be made into writing. Hopefully this will be an inspiration for all of us," said Agus Priyatno.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Bontang Education Office, Dwi Indriyani, appreciated PT KMI's program which continues to focus on increasing teacher capacity in Bontang City. "Companies in the city of Bontang always work together to help develop human resources and other sectors, so we are very grateful for the assistance of companies in the city of Bontang, especially PT. KMI wants to share their CSR program with teachers who are really interested in writing," explained Dwi Indriyani.
After the ceremony, PT KMI also gave prizes to teachers who excel in Bontang City at all levels of the Bontang City Education Office working area. Prizes in the form of Umrah vouchers for three outstanding teachers are recommendations from the Education Office, including Sumarni from TK Negeri 1 Bontang, Rosmidah from SDN 01 Bontang Selatan and Hamid Arif from SMPN 2 Bontang.
Previously, some time ago PT KMI had given holiday prizes to Singapore for students and teachers who excel at the national level in the English Competition. Related to the Teacher Competency Training with the theme of writing training held by PT. KMI this day, each participant will later write as the output of the current training, which will later be documented in a book.
