PT Kaltim Methanol Industri (PT KMI) fulfilled its promise to dispatch 3 participants who won first place in the 2019 English competition at the junior high school level throughout the city of Bontang, East Kalimantan in each category to be competed in Singapore.
The three junior high school (SMP) students who were lucky to be able to enjoy field studies in several locations in Singapore on July 13-15 are Nadine Nuruzzahra from SMP Negeri 1 (spelling bee category), Nela Susi Khodijah from SMP YPVDP (storytelling category) and Cecilia Belinda Patricia from YPVDP Junior High School (speech category).
In addition to giving appreciation to students, PT KMI also gave awards to teacher partners, namely Jarot Endik Setiawan, an English teacher from SMP Negeri 3 Bontang for his achievement in presenting the 2019 national teacher Olympiad gold medal.
General Affairs Director PT. KMI Agus Priyatno said that the field study and awards to teachers held by his party proved that the company was committed to increasing attention, especially in the field of education.
Previously, through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, PT KMI collaborated with English language MGMP for SMP/MTs throughout the city of Bontang in April last year to hold an English competition 2019 which became the largest English proficiency competition event ever held in Bontang City, East Kalimantan.
Located in the Multipurpose Building, Guntung Village, North Bontang District and SMP Negeri 9, the 2019 English competition contested three categories, namely spelling bee, storytelling and speech contest with a total of 107 participants representing 23 schools throughout the city of Bontang, East Kalimantan.
"With the 2019 English competition from the allocation of CSR funds, in the future PT KMI wants to create an English village in Bontang City, East Kalimantan so that its citizens are proficient in English, just like the English village in Tulungrejo Village, Pare District, Kediri Regency, Central Java, which has previously known," said PT KMI's CSR & PR section manager Budi Yuwono in a written statement.
At that time, after the registration was opened, 22 participants chose to participate in the speech contest category, 22 other participants took part in storytelling and 67 participants chose to compete in the spelling bee category. During the English competition, the General Affairs Director of PT KMI Agus Priyatno along with the management and curriculum staff of the Bontang City Education Office were also present as well as giving prizes to the winners.

Holding training on Migration OHSAS-18001:2007 to ISO-45001:2018 for Section Managers to Deputy Department Managers from Monday, 3 to Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Bintang Sintuk Hotel. In the training, the trainer was Mr. Hedratmoko from LRQA. The event was opened by Mr. Djoko Subagio (Deputy Plant General Manager) as a representative of PT.KMI Management.
ISO-45001:2018 is the first international standard in the world that stipulates requirements or guidelines for an occupational safety and health management system (SMK3), by implementing the system it is hoped that:
• The company can establish a systematic process to reduce the number of work accidents and can take into account the risks and hazards, as well as legal and other requirements related to the OHS management system.
• Determine the hazards and risks associated with its activities and strive to eliminate those risks and hazards.
• Establish operational controls to manage risks and hazards, and legal and regulatory aspects related to smk3
• Increase awareness of risks and hazards in the corporate environment.
• Evaluate the performance of the OHS Management System and strive to improve it continuously.
• Workers ensure that they take an active role in the matter of OSH in a combination of measures that will ensure the organization's reputation as a safe place.
With the implementation of the ISO-45001:2018 system, it is hoped that it will provide a sense of security for the community around PT. Kaltim Methanol Industry from the risks caused by work accidents.
