PT. Kaltim Methanol Industry (KMI) won another award. This time at the Indonesia Sustainable Development Goals Award (ISDA) 2021 held by the Corporate Forum for CSR Development (CFCD). The event was held at the JS Luwansa Hotel, South Jakarta, Friday (17/9/2021). According to the Vice President Director of PT KMI Akihiro Yoshimura,
at the 4th ISDA, PT KMI which produces methanol with company operations located in Bontang, East Kalimantan, received 2 types of awards with different categories.
“Two categories of awards received by PT KMI include the SDG's 4.3 category in the form of apprenticeship training for students/students/community with the title of the School Literacy Movement program which won the gold predicate. Next, the SDG's 8.3 category is in the form of empowering business/community economic institutions with the title of the Instant Ginger Vegetable House program which won the silver predicate, “said Akihiro Yoshimura. This award brings a sense of pride and pleasure considering that PT KMI is now on a par with 80 other large companies that have also received awards with 201 programs that they are currently undergoing.
These awards include the gold category for the Intensive School Literacy Movement (Gleserin) program whose target area is the KKG Group II North Bontang. Through this program, the teachers have produced 4 books that have been coded International Standard Book Number (ISBN). While the silver category, for the Instant Ginger Vegetable House (Rusa Jantan) program is a program consisting of mothers who are members of the Mekar Harum Self-Help Group (KSM). In the form of fostering community groups consisting of housewives in Guntung Village, North Bontang, with a business unit making Sarabba Instant Ginger Drink.
This achievement in the 2021 ISDA event completes the list of achievements of PT KMI, which this year succeeded in obtaining an award at the Nusantara CSR Awards 2021 which was held by La Tofi at the Kempinski Hotel Jakarta on Wednesday (15/9/2021). At the event, PT KMI won an award in the health sector through the KMI Cares for Handling Covid-19 program, in the category of Health and Economic Assistance (Charity) for Covid-19 Emergency Handling.
Through its CSR programs, PT KMI has shown a commitment to the Bontang community in the field of education. Namely increasing teacher competence in the school literacy movement in a sustainable manner and also the Mekar Harum group's coaching program in empowering the community's economy.
